Mois de la Francophonie - March 2023



The Francophonie Month is coming stronger than ever this year, and it's time to get excited about all the amazing events and workshops that are happening throughout the month of March. Whether you're a French speaker or simply interested in learning more about the language and culture, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

The Francophonie Month is a celebration of the French language and its diverse cultures around the world. It's a time to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Francophone world, and to highlight the contributions that Francophone communities make to our global society.

This year, there are a wide variety of events and workshops happening throughout the month, including exhibition, film screenings, concerts, and more. 

So why not join in on the celebration and take advantage of all the wonderful events happening during the Francophonie Month? Whether you're interested in expanding your language skills, immersing yourself in a new culture, or simply having fun and making new friends, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Kubini Exhibition

Presented in partnership with the Institut Français, the exhibition “Kubuni” (“imaginary creation” in Swahili) takes you on a journey of discovery of comics …
… whose story takes place in Africa, on the one hand
… made by authors from sub-Saharan Africa and the diaspora, on the other hand

Broadcasted in 2021 in Angoulême, "Kubuni" offers a cartography of comics of sub-Saharan Africa taking shape around three main axes: yesterday, today, tomorrow, bringing together the works of around fifty authors and authors of comics.

Sweet Paname Concert


Join us for "Sweet Paname" Concert at Alliance Francaise Auckland by Sonia & Nigel with special guest Tracey Collins. Sonia and Nigel are a multi-cultural acoustic duo featuring French-American Paris-born Sonia Wilson on vocals & ukulele and Kiwi-American virtuoso musician Nigel Gavin on 7-string guitar.

Their concert at the Alliance Française Auckland on March 4th will mark the official release of their project "Sweet Paname" here in the North Island.

Sedef Ecer - Q&A Session


Franco-Turkish novelist, playwright and screenwriter, Sedef Ecer, has been selected as the 2023 French artist-in-residence at Randell Cottage.

She  will be coming to Alliance Francaise to talk about her book "Tresor National" and exchange with our members
