French In The Pacific A History
The story of the encounter between France and the Pacific is that of the quest for new lands and new souls.
It also tells of the gradual blending of several cultures - each as rich as they are different from one another.
From their interactions with the native peoples of the Pacific, explorers, missionaires, and government representatives left many traces: texts, drawings, maps, photographs and even audio recordings.
This course invites you to explore some of these original documents, and thus gain a deeper understanding of this page of history and the 300 years young relationship between France and the Pacific.
