PROGRAMME TERM 3 'Maman et Me TIme' - Toddlers 2-4 years: Introduction and immersion to the oral French language through games and storytelling.

This term, the children will discover the French language and childhood culture through colors. L’âne Trotro, a fictitious character invented by French author Bénédicte Guettier and adored by young children, is going to be the children’s companion along the way.

Lesson structure:

  • Each lesson begins with a routine practising previously learnt concepts like greetings, the date, the weather, and other new vocab.
  • Then, Trotro introduces the children to the color of the day. Around this color, the class will learn basic French communication skills related to the child’s environment, as well as vocabulary. Emphasis will be put on storytelling, games, traditional songs and chants to immerse the children into an authentic French environment, just like the one in which French children are growing up.
  • For the last few minutes, we will either watch a short episode of Trotro and discuss it or read one of his stories, to develop children’s comprehension skills and familiarise them with their “friend”.
