130th Anniversary

In 2026, Alliance Française Auckland will proudly celebrate 130th anniversary of promoting French language and culture in New Zealand (1896–2026). To mark this historic occasion, we’re planning a full year of festivities, cultural events, and community celebrations.

And because such a milestone deserves a unique identity, we are launching a design competition to create a special anniversary logo. 
Whether you're a student, a designer, an artist, or simply a creative spirit, you can take part in the competition.

The Alliance Française of Auckland was founded on 22 October 1896 by Professor de Montalk. The Alliance remained active and developed as a cultural, literary, and social club throughout the 20th century. In 1985, it added a French language school for both adults and children. To mark this historic milestone, we are launching a design competition to create a special anniversary logo.

Design a classy, timeless, and meaningful logo that will be used throughout 2026 across all our platforms — including print, digital, events, and merchandise — to commemorate our 130th anniversary.

• Incorporate the years: 1896 – 2026
  
• Respect the official colours of the Alliance Française: red, white, and black
  
• Reflect both French and New Zealand identities: symbols, cultural elements, or visual codes from both countries are encouraged
  
• Evoke a sense of heritage, celebration, and continuity
  
• Remain elegant and easily adaptable to different formats (horizontal/vertical, colour/monochrome)

Our audience includes students, families, the French and Kiwi communities, partners, sponsors, and the broader cultural and educational sectors in New Zealand.

• Sophisticated, warm, and celebratory
  
• A perfect blend of tradition and modernity
  
• No clichés – we’re looking for a design that is creative and unique

• A high-resolution logo (vector format: .AI/.EPS/.SVG)
  
• Black & white version
  
• Colour codes and fonts used
  
• A short explanation of the concept (optional but appreciated)
