About the designer

Christiane Waneissi is the founder of a start-up e-commerce business where she sells Kanak-inspired designs, including her fashion brand Chateau Briand, which was selected by the NZ Fashion Week.

Her collection is green in reference to nickel - the key resource of New Caledonia. This textile project is much more than fashion; it reflects the social and environmental realities her country is going through. Unlike typical New Caledonian designs inspired by lagoons or genealogy, Christiane draws inspiration from the mineral nickel itself, which defines New Caledonia’s identity and place in the Pacific.

Her work is an innovative contribution to New Caledonian fashion, highlighting the country’s unique story and showcasing a female-led business project. This event also offers a chance to spotlight the women’s business network, with potential involvement from the French Tech community.
