Houda Bakkali: A Pioneer in Digital Art and New Technologies

Houda Bakkali is an award-winning visual artist renowned for her innovative work in digital art and new technologies. Since starting her artistic career in 2008, her vibrant creations have been showcased at public and private events worldwide, including groundbreaking exhibitions in airports like Madrid Barajas and Málaga-Costa del Sol—featuring the first large-format canvases combining mixed media, augmented reality (AR), and immersive experiences with the Arab female figure at the forefront.

A trailblazer in AR art, she presented the first AR canvas at the Contemporary Art Salon in Monte-Carlo (2020) and her first immersive AR piece in Sanremo, Italy. Houda also spearheaded pioneering digital projects in Barcelona’s civic centers and created the first educational Web3 and AR project inspired by Don Quixote.

Her work has been displayed at prestigious venues such as the Carrousel du Louvre (Paris), Biarritz Casino, Sanremo Museo dei Fiori, and the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona. Beyond exhibitions, she conducts workshops, masterclasses, and educational programs that explore the intersection of art, technology, and health communication.

Houda’s achievements include multiple American Illustration honors (New York), the International Motion Award, and recognition from TIME Magazine’s first Web3 initiative, where she exhibited at Dreamverse in New York City.

About the exhibition

This exhibition seeks to exemplify the power of digital art to break spatial, temporal and generational borders, creating synergies between different audiences and making art not only timeless, but also universal, close, understandable and joyful.
The exhibition merges all her  art versions: virtual, physical and immersive, each one compliments others and people can enjoy art in a different way. Likewise, this exhibition shares some digital concepts about digital art and the uses of creativity and tech beyond art.
