Conversation Advanced Course

Conversation B1

This course is designed for learners who want to improve their fluency and confidence in spoken French. You will take part in realistic, interactive conversations in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Through guided discussions on French culture and contemporary issues, you will develop your ability to express opinions, justify ideas, and interact more naturally. Authentic articles and videos from the French press will be used as a basis for conversation.

Classes are conducted entirely in French and run over four terms per year, with each term consisting of 20 hours.

B2.1 Advanced Course

-> You can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
-> You can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
-> You can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Self Led Learning Recommendations
According to the CECRL, 200 to 250 hours of learning are necessary to obtain level B2
We recommend you spend 5-20 minutes of self-led study, which involves:
-> Homework
-> Re-applying the material looked at in class in everyday life
-> To interact with different resources and expose oneself to movies, tv series, music and news publications.

-> You can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
-> You can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Self Led Learning Recommendations
In terms of self-led learning and study at level C1, it depends on your individual objectives.
We recommend that you watch, listen and read content in French, of different format and different context.
For example: French literature, opinion pieces or French audiobooks.
